Security Employment Policy

Parowan Police Department Security Employment Policy

I Purpose

A. To ensure all sworn officers employed  by Parowan Police Department understand state law and city ordinances pertaining to off-duty employment as a security officer and comply with said laws and ordinances. ,

ll Policy

A. ln accordance with UCA 53-13-114, UCA 58-63-304 and City Ordinances currently in effect or that may be placed in effect by the Mayor and City Council at a future date, no sworn member of this department may engage in off-duty employment as a security officer;

a. Without written authorization itom the Chief of Police.

b. Without the off-duty employer complying with state and federal income reporting and withholding requirements.

lll Procedure

A. , Each request for employment of this nature will be reviewed by the Police Chief and other Parowan City staff as required with regard to insurance and indemnification issues, use of agency vehicles, equipment, and uniforms.
